Des Moines names Wingert new police chief

Wingert, a major who oversees the patrol division and other functions, will replace Judy Bradshaw, who resigned and accepted a position as assistant director of the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. Sanders had considered four finalists, three from the Des Moines department. “Dana has prepared himself well for this role,” Sanders said in a statement. “He has made strong and productive relationships with members of our community. He is personable, approachable and a competent police officer.”
