Des Moines private sector loses jobs
Des Moines lost 900 private-sector jobs from September 2009 to September 2010, according to numbers released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics on Wednesday.
Des Moines went from 274,900 jobs to 274,000, a decrease of 0.33 percent.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics released employment numbers for the 100 largest metropolitan areas, of which 44 saw gains and 56 saw losses in private-sector jobs. Washington, D.C., saw the largest gain with 34,400 jobs.
