Cumulus Media has announced that 92.5 KJJY, a country music radio station in Des Moines, raised $131,146 during its Two Days of Compassion Radiothon. The funds will benefit Variety – The Children’s Charity, providing support to families with children hospitalized at Mercy Des Moines and Blank Children’s Hospital. The contributions will help parents cover expenses such as gas, utility bills and support for siblings of sick children. Notably, the fundraiser also facilitated the purchase of 662 teddy bears for local hospitals and sleep sacks to prevent sudden infant death syndrome in newborns. “The KJJY fans continue to support Variety, regardless of inflation and tough economic times,” said Jack Taddeo, vice president of Cumulus Des Moines. “It is our pleasure to play a part by leveraging KJJY and its experienced local staff.”
