The Greater Des Moines area added 1.4 million square feet of new data center space between 2012 and 2021, the eighth-highest in the U.S., according to a new report by 42floors.com. The Des Moines area’s data center market grew from 78,000 square feet in 2012 to 1.5 million square feet of data center space at the end of 2021, according to the report. Microsoft Inc. has built data centers in West Des Moines; Facebook has built centers in Altoona. Earlier this year, Apple Inc. began construction of its data center project in Waukee. The top markets were Washington, D.C., and Dallas-Fort Worth. To read the report, click here.
