Des Moines receives $1.8 million to aid in helping homeless youth

The money was awarded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The money will be used to help pay for programs such as rapid rehousing, permanent supportive housing, transitional housing and host homes. Des Moines was among 23 communities that received funding, which this year totaled $75 million.
