Des Moines Register: In the year since Des Moines voters passed a 1-cent sales tax increase, the city made more than $38 million to fund new projects, hiring and services, according to a new report. The figure slightly exceeds the city’s initial prediction of raising $37 million in one year. But now officials expect to take a “significant hit” from the coronavirus pandemic’s impact on the retail and travel industries.
