Des Moines Symphony announces 2020 Summer Pops concerts

The Des Moines Symphony’s 27th annual Yankee Doodle Pops will be performed Thursday, July 2, on the West Terrace of the Iowa Capitol, concluding with a fireworks display over the downtown Des Moines skyline. Visitors are invited to bring picnic baskets, blankets and lawn chairs or purchase food from vendors while listening to the “Armed Forces Salute,” “The Stars and Stripes Forever” and the “1812 Overture” with live howitzer cannons and fireworks. The symphony also announced its second season of Water Works Pops Concerts scheduled for July 24-26. These free concerts are presented by Linda and Tom Koehn at the Lauridsen Amphitheater at Water Works Park. Admission and other details are available at www.dmsymphony.org/summerpops.
