Des Moines Walk to End Alzheimer’s raises more than $250,000
Central Iowa residents helped raise more than $250,000 through the Walk to End Alzheimer’s held on Saturday in Des Moines. The money raised will be used for the care, support and research programs of the Alzheimer’s Association. Team LCS, led by Timothy Wood, was named the Top Company Team, raising more than $45,000. Team For Linda, led by Jeff Miller, was the Top Community Team, raising more than $9,000 in memory of Miller’s sister, who died at age 64 from Alzheimer’s. More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease, which is a leading cause of death in the United States. Fundraising continues through the end of the year, and the association will hold its Ames Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Oct. 16. To register or donate, visit alz.org/walk.
