Des Moines, West Des Moines projects among ‘best development’ winners

152 wordsAll Latest News, Real Estate and Development1000 Friends of Iowa will present its annual Best Development awards Jan. 22 at the Capitol Rotunda.
Here are the recipients for 2018:
- Innovative Leadership: City of Storm Lake for building a sustainable community through food, youth service and education, flood control, and stormwater management.
- Placemaking/Greenspace: Primary Health Care Wellness Center for its healing garden in Des Moines.
- Renewable Energy: Stuff Etc for its solar array plus storage technology in Coralville.
- Renovated Civic – Small Community: The restoration of the Bricker-Price Block in Earlham.
- Renovated Civic – Large Community: Davenport Community School District for its J.B. Young Opportunity Center in Davenport.
- Renovated Residential: Professional Property Management for Sun Prairie Apartment rehabilitation in West Des Moines.
- Stormwater Management: The city of Algona for its downtown green parking lot infrastructure renewal.
- Transportation/Complete Streets: The city of Manning for its trails network.
Awards will be presented following a light lunch that begins at 11:45 a.m.
