The Clarke County Development Corp. has awarded $480,000 in grants to community organizations, based in large part on revenues from Lakeside Casino in Osceola. Among the grants were $25,000 to Clarke County for for improvements to secondary roads and bridges; $100,000 for the East Lake trail project that, in part, will provide students access to East Lake Park without relying on bus transportation; $150,000 to the Village Early Childhood Center in Osceola to pay off the building’s mortgage and other bills as well as $93,500 to help pay for geothermal heating and cooling units at the site; and $5,000 to an Osceola program that demolishes dilapidated and dangerous abandoned structures to make way for new development.
