The Des Moines International Airport announced Friday that American Airlines will reintroduce a direct flight from Des Moines to Philadelphia after an almost five-year hiatus. The route will operate twice daily starting in June 2025, according to a news release. “Philadelphia is a major hub for both business and leisure travelers. Restoring this nonstop service strengthens our region’s connectivity and provides Iowans with a convenient route to Europe through American Airlines’ extensive network in Philadelphia,” said Kevin Foley, Des Moines Airport Authority executive director, in a prepared statement. With the addition of the Philadelphia route, American Airlines now offers direct flights from Des Moines to eight destinations, including Charlotte, N.C., Phoenix, Chicago, Dallas and New York.
