DMACC executive VP receives national leadership award
Stanley Jensen, executive vice president of college operations at Des Moines Area Community College, received the Exemplary Leadership Award at the Chair Academy’s 27th Annual International Leadership Conference in Denver, Colo. Before coming to DMACC in January, Jensen was president of Henry Ford College in Dearborn, Mich., where he led the college out of financial crisis and to a current $19 million fund balance through strong, compassionate leadership. He also created a system of shared leadership in which hundreds of employees who formerly did not have a voice now participate in the governance of that college. Jensen is now working with DMACC President Rob Denson to launch continuous process improvement initiatives in four primary areas: student advising, enrollment, collection and use of data, and workforce initiatives. The Chair Academy, based in Mesa, Ariz., is a global leadership and development organization dedicated to higher education.
