DMACC fall enrollment down for first time in more than a decade
Fall enrollment numbers at Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) are down 6.84 percent from last year, college officials said today.
A spokesperson attributed the dip to more potential students finding jobs thanks to a strengthening Central Iowa economy, and noted that nearly all community colleges in the state are experiencing similar declines.
DMACC still has a five-year enrollment increase of nearly 30 percent. Last year’s fall enrollment was a record 25,425, which was the 12th straight year of fall enrollment growth and a 135 percent increase since 2000.
