DMACC names McCarville-Kerber dean of health and public services

Des Moines Area Community College has announced the appointment of Jeanie McCarville-Kerber as dean of health and public services for the college. She started at DMACC in 2007 as a human services professor and faculty group leader and most recently served as dean of business and information technology. McCarville-Kerber started in her new role on Aug. 1, succeeding Art Brown, who is serving in another administrative role in higher education. “Her professional background, multiple years of teaching experience, and recent role and leadership as an Academic Dean at the College are in direct alignment with the needs of our Health and Public Services division,” MD Isley, vice president of academic affairs at DMACC, said in a press release. “Her combined skills and experience will help ensure DMACC’s ability to deliver on Central Iowa’s health care education needs and the significant needs of the health care workforce.” The Health and Public Services division includes almost two dozen academic programs from dental programs, nursing and emergency medical services to health information technology, human services and early childhood education. McCarville-Kerber has a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Drake University, a master’s degree in social work from the University of Iowa, a master’s degree in public administration from Drake and a Ph.D. in educational leadership from Iowa State University.
