Des Moines Area Community College’s board of trustees has approved a $4-per-credit tuition increase for the upcoming 2016-17 academic year, putting tuition at $147 per credit hour and giving the school the lowest tuition and fee rate of any college or university in Iowa, DMACC officials said. “DMACC offers the best education value in the state,” said Rob Denson, president of DMACC. “Nowhere in Iowa can anyone find the quality of professors, 225 programs and certificates, and the many new student amenities, for DMACC’s low tuition,” he said. Denson credited additional state support and holding costs down over the years as contributing to keeping DMACC tuition affordable. The Legislature increased state allocations for Iowa’s 15 community colleges by $3 million for the 2017 budget year.
