DMPA-backed shows win three Tony Awards
Des Moines Performing Arts invested in two shows that won a combined three Tony Awards this year. “The Cher Show” won Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical (Stephanie J. Block) and Best Costume Design of a Musical (Bob Mackie). “Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of the Temptations” won Best Choreography (Sergio Trujillo). DMPA invested in the shows as part of the Independent Presenters Network, a consortium of 40 leading Broadway presenters, theaters and performing arts centers.
