Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity was selected by an anonymous donor to receive a $60,000 matching grant to build a Habitat home in honor of Pope Francis. According to a news release, the donor was inspired by the pope’s views on economic justice, equality and peace. The home will be at 1912 Francis Ave. in Des Moines. A site blessing for the home was held Wednesday. Local matches for the home were also provided by Diocese of Des Moines parishes, Casey’s General Stores Inc. and individual donors.
