Des Moines is set to host the opening day of the Downtown Farmers’ Market on May 6. The market, which takes place every Saturday from May through October, supports over 300 local small businesses from 50 counties across Iowa. Visitors can expect to find fresh produce, flowers, meat, cheese and baked goods, as well as enjoy live entertainment and the community atmosphere. The market is produced by the Greater Des Moines Partnership and spans nine city blocks in downtown Des Moines. The market will also participate in the Double Up Food Bucks program, which matches SNAP EBT card benefits spent at farmers markets.
