Drake University’s College of Business and Public Administration announced a new program to recognize students who take the initiative to make their communities a priority through service. The Dean’s Honor Roll for Social Impact emphasizes the importance of community involvement and seeks to encourage business and public administration students to participate in volunteer activities. Students who perform and record at least 20 hours of individual community service in a given semester and who submit a reflection paper or attend a reflection session at the end of the semester will be placed on this honor roll in recognition of their commitment to make a positive societal impact. The new program “is evidence that a business education can be a force for good, contributing to the global economy and to society,” said Alejandro Hernandez, dean of the College of Business and Public Administration. “This platform will recognize the service that many of our students are already performing and inspire others to experience the transformational value of volunteering.” Students will use the online technology platform NobleHour to track their service and build a volunteer profile.
