Drake University announces fundraising updates to The Ones campaign
Drake University announced Tuesday that The Ones campaign has now raised $141 million of its $225 million goal with the support of seven recently announced major gifts. A $3.25 million gift from Locke and Harriet Macomber’s estate, which was first announced in May with the Macomber’s donations to seven other Des Moines organizations, will establish a fund for a legal clinic serving entrepreneurs and innovators in underserved Des Moines neighborhoods and rural areas. Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino recently approved three grants to Drake for the Knapp Center renovation, Sprout Garden, which supports student community engagement, and the Robert D. and Billie Ray Center. Other donors dedicated their recent gifts to supporting the Crew Scholars program, scholarships for the John Dee Bright College, campus renovations, Drake athletics and the live mascot program. “These gifts will enhance the exceptional learning environment that all Drake students enjoy and advance our inspiration of transforming lives and strengthening communities,” Drake President Marty Martin said in a news release.
