Dwolla said Thursday it has launched a platform for businesses, banks and consumers that delivers real-time money transfer free of charge, making it the first U.S.-based payments network to offer free transfers, CNBC reported. Ben Milne, founder and CEO of Des Moines-based Dwolla, told Reuters the company has removed the 25-cent fee it had charged users. As a result, businesses and financial institutions will be able to build new products and services on Dwolla’s platform and charge their own fees without having to pay Dwolla for connectivity, he said. Dwolla has already replaced the potential revenue loss from the removal of the transaction fee by selling new features to its payment systems, Milne said.
