Milne and other company leaders came to the decision after a six-month search for a new chief operating officer, he wrote. “We realized collectively that we, myself included, are looking for a new CEO,” he said. Milne plans to stay involved as a board member and a staff member in some capacity after the transition: “The company and its future are now much bigger than me.” Milne co-founded the fintech payments startup Dwolla in 2008 with Shane Neuerburg, who left the company in 2012. Under Milne, the company has raised more than $22 million from investors, according to Crunchbase, and launched Monetery Summit in 2018 to bring investors to Des Moines to meet Midwestern startups. Milne has been named an MIT Technology Review Innovator Under 35, a 2013 Disruptor of the Year by Forbes and a 2012 30 Under 30 by Inc. magazine.
