Eagle View residents could take a swim in a shipping container

139 wordsAll Latest News, Real Estate and DevelopmentIn addition to providing a unique solution to controlling stormwater, the proposed Eagle View Lofts project near the Des Moines River is offering a one-of-a-kind swimming pool for future residents. Hansen Real Estate Services brought plans for the $15 million, 120-unit project before the city of Des Moines Urban Design Review Board. The sandy soils at the site, near Southeast Sixth and Shaw streets, provide an opportunity to slow and reuse rainwater, said landscape architect Dennis Reynolds, who also is a member of the board. Reynolds made the presentation and recused himself from deliberations. In addition, the developers plan to use an abandoned railroad shipping container as a swimming pool that would sit atop a railroad flatcar.
