East Village Books at 510 E. Locust St. in the East Village will open its doors on Oct. 26.

The 4,200-square-foot store in the Scandia Building boasts an inventory of 18,000 books and 4,000 compact discs.

Terri Wood TeBockhorst, owner of the store, said preparation for opening the store have gone as planned. “It’s amazingly labor intensive,” she said.

TeBockhorst said she hope the store will provide visitors with a unique experience by offering something different from the national bookstore chains. “I want to do what they can’t do, and that is focus on the local author and artist,” she said.
