The USA-TAHAN-Group (UTG) and EMBARC will hold a fundraiser raising money for medical supplies needed in Myanmar as residents face the increasing spread of the delta variant as well as the military coup that began in February and intensified COVID-19 spread. UTG is a group of more than 10,000 refugees from the Kalaymyo region of Myanmar now living in Iowa and advocating for the welfare of loved ones in Myanmar. All proceeds from the fundraiser will be directed to providing medical supplies in the Kalaymyo region. The event is on Sept. 11 from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Iowa Capitol grounds and will feature speakers, cultural performances and ethnic foods from Myanmar. Learn more about the fundraiser
