After the marathon year that was 2020, the EMC DAM to DSM 20k race will be returning with both in-person and virtual runs on Aug. 28. The Des Moines-based race organizers, corporate sponsors, and city officials have worked for more than two years since the event was last held in the metro. The tradition of running from Saylorville Dam to Downtown Des Moines dates back more than 40 years, and will continue next Saturday. “Our top priority in 2021 was to return to in-person running, said Michael Zimmerman, race director. “We’ve made some adjustments, including capping our athlete numbers, working to space runners throughout the course, limiting vendors, and moving our post-race party to Exile Brewing to allow for more space, while keeping the energy and excitement that makes this run so special,” he said.
