Emerald ash borer spreads; Des Moines launches survey

It won’t be long before a third of Iowa has confirmed emerald ash borer sightings. The tree-killing pest now has damaged trees in 24 of Iowa’s 99 counties. Davenport and central rural Davis County and were just added to the list of confirmed infestations. After the ash borer was found in Central Iowa, the city of Des Moines decided to increase its effort to assess the potential damage. The city is asking residents to take a three-question survey, and will hold a drawing for a free tree. Take the survey: eab.dmgov.org.
