Employee & Family Resources now offers outpatient counseling to the public at its West Des Moines and downtown Des Moines offices. Prior to this, EFR offered the service on a short-term basis only to participants in its Employee Assistance Program. With the change, EAP program participants also have the option to obtain longer-term counseling after their maximum number of counseling visits has been reached, said Shannon Evers, director of clinical services. Licensed therapists, mental health counselors and clinical social workers are available to assist children and adolescents, families, adults and couples. EFR accepts most major health insurance plans and all Medicaid insurance plans. The organization also offers a sliding fee scale for qualified individuals.
