Endow Iowa base increase expected to help community foundations
Gov. Terry Branstad signed a bill last week that raises the base amount of the Endow Iowa Tax Credit program. The bill, supported unanimously in the Iowa House and Iowa Senate, provides an $800,000 increase to the base of Endow Iowa tax credits, which is expected to provide approximately $4.5 million in tax credits annually, the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines said.
The Endow Iowa program allows taxpayers to receive a 25 percent Iowa tax credit in addition to normal federal charitable income tax deductions. The credits are available to donors who establish or contribute to a permanent charitable fund at a qualified community foundation.
