Engineered Plastic Components Inc., a West Des Moines-based injection molding company, announced it has acquired the assets of Wilbert Plastic Services’ plants in Bellevue, Ohio, and Lebanon, Ky. Both plants service the automotive interior trim and appliances industries, plus other industries. The Bellevue plant operates 70 injection molding machines and employs 225 people, while the Lebanon plant has 45 injection molding machines and 350 employees. EPC will also maintain a sales and engineering office that Wilbert Plastics had in Troy, Mich. In a statement, EPC said it worked closely with Wilbert Plastics for the past several months to make sure the transaction, completed on April 15, was successful and seamless to its customers. “We are very excited about this transaction as it will increase our footprint and ability to service all of our customers better,” said Reza Kargarzadeh, EPC’s president and CEO. EPC currently has 12 other manufacturing plants in North America, including plants in Grinnell and Kalona, Iowa. Kargarzadeh in October 2016 donated the former Maytag headquarters complex in Newton to Des Moines Area Community College.
