Entrepreneurs, meet your angels
Iowa entrepreneurs and potential investors will have a new forum at which to connect this spring, with the launch of the inaugural i2iowa Investors and Innovators forum on April 12.

The forum, organized by the Technology Association of Iowa (TAI) and the Iowa Economic Development Authority, will match entrepreneurs with investors and other funding resources.

“The i2iowa Investors and Innovators Forum will bring attention to the state’s best investment-ready companies,” said Debi Durham, director of the Iowa Economic Development Authority, in a press release. “Innovation presents exciting opportunities for Iowa, and events like this feature companies with high growth potential.”

The forum will connect investors with a portfolio of Iowa companies in four tracks: life and bio sciences; information technology; advanced manufacturing; and general business.

“With this track format, investors can focus on the area of their primary interest,” said Leann Jacobsen, president of TAI. “The format also benefits entrepreneurs, who will be matched with funders who have an interest in their industry and business stage. Entrepreneurs will also have access to relevant information regarding entrepreneurial programs and resources.”

Preceding the i2iowa event, TAI will host a Pitch and Grow event on April 11, at which 16 Iowa entrepreneurs will practice their pitch before a supportive “think tank” of industry experts. That evening will feature the 2012 Prometheus Awards, an industrywide celebration of technology and innovation.

The daylong i2iowa event is set to continue the momentum the following day.  It is presented exclusively by TAI in partnership with title sponsor the Iowa Economic Development Authority.

Interested entrepreneurs at any stage of business development should apply online by Feb. 7 at i2iowa.org.
