EPA sets new standards for pesticide applicators
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is finalizing standards for applicators who apply restricted-use pesticides that require special handling and aren’t available to the public. The EPA says the rules would require certified applicators to be at least 18 years old. Special licenses will govern fumigation and aerial applications. The EPA is requiring specialized licensing for certain methods such as fumigation and aerial application that can pose greater risks if not conducted properly. The rule is expected to reduce problems with drift pollution.
