Excellence in History Awards announced
Several people, organizations and communities who have made outstanding contributions to the field of Iowa’s history have been presented with the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs’ and state Historical Society board of trustees’ annual Excellence in History Award. The awards were presented June 23 during a ceremony at the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library in Cedar Rapids. This year’s winners come from nearly every part of the state, including Council Bluffs, Sibley, Forest City, Mason City, Waterloo and Cedar Rapids. A full list of the award winners can be found on the Cultural Affairs website. Award winners from 2020 and 2021 were also recognized after in-person ceremonies for those years were canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.
