The International Trade Administration today announced that U.S. merchandise exports increased $202 billion to a record $1.48 trillion in 2011. The increase was driven by a $43 billion increase in exports from Texas. Iowa’s export shipment totaled $13.3 billion in 2011, up from $10.9 billion the previous year. Machinery accounted for $3.8 billion of Iowa’s total, food products made up $2.9 billion, agricultural products and chemicals accounted for $1.2 billion each and transportation equipment was $842 million.
