Facebook contest will decide Iowa Travel Guide cover
What will the cover of the 2012 Iowa Travel Guide look like? This year, Facebook followers will have the power to decide.
The Iowa Tourism Office has launched a contest on its Facebook page that will allow followers to choose from three possible covers developed by The Integer Group: a photograph of the High Trestle Trail Bridge, a couple canoeing on the Cedar River or a photo montage of attractions from around the state.
“Back in July, we generated a discussion with our Facebook fans about what should be on our cover,” Iowa Tourism spokeswoman Jessica O’Riley said. “That generated such a lively discussion that we thought we would let them choose the cover that we would have as well. This is the first time we’ve given our Facebook fans a chance to have input on something that will be used to showcase Iowa.”
To vote, visit www.facebook.com/IowaTourism or go to www.TravelIowa.com and click on the Facebook button. People can vote as many times as they like and are encouraged to invite their friends on Facebook to vote as well, O’Riley said. “You just have to ‘like’ Iowa Tourism first to be able to vote,” she said. The contest runs through Oct. 18, and the winning cover will be announced Oct. 19.
