Facebook opens applications for new cycle of Community Action grants
Facebook is now accepting applications for the latest cycle of its Community Action Grants. According to a news release, the deadline to apply is Oct. 15. It is an annual program funded by Facebook that helps nonprofits and schools in communities where the company has a data center. According to the eligibility guidelines the communities that are eligible to apply are those served by the Southeast Polk and Bondurant-Farrar school districts, including Altoona, Pleasant Hill, Runnells, Mitchellville, Bondurant and Farrar. The grants are intended to help nonprofit organizations and schools connect people online or off, improve local science, technology, engineering and math education, and use technology to benefit communities. More than $200,000 in grants was awarded to 16 schools and organizations in Polk County in March.
