Family Promise of Greater Des Moines has received a $4,000 grant to fund supplies and guest expenses associated with efforts to assist families with children experiencing homelessness, the organization announced this week. Family Promise provides shelter, meals and case management services for up to three families at a time in Polk County through a network of 14 faith-based organizations. Each participating congregation provides overnight shelter and meals for one week every three months. The grant comes from Variety — the Children’s Charity, and will pay a portion of the costs associated with guest expenses.
