Fareway Stores Inc. has agreed to buy the Brick Street Market and Cafe in Bondurant, with the purchase expected to be finalized early next year. According to a news release, Fareway will interview current Brick Street Market employees in the coming days. Fareway officials said they anticipate the 20,000-square-foot store being closed beginning in early January for remodeling. The cafe will remain open during the remodel, they said. Brian and Mary Lohse opened the grocery store and cafe in 2014 after winning a $202 million Powerball jackpot. “While it was not an easy decision to make, in deciding to sell the grocery store to Fareway, we know that they will carry on those same values and provide greater opportunities to both our employees and our wonderful community,” the Lohses said in the release. Fareway CEO Reynolds Cramer said Fareway is excited to expand into Bondurant. “We look forward to serving area residents locally and becoming an integral part of the Bondurant community,” he said in the release. “Eight years ago, Brian and Mary Lohse brought a local grocer to Bondurant, and we are grateful they believe in Fareway to carry on their efforts.”
