182 wordsAg and Environment, All Latest NewsIowa State University Extension and Outreach is organizing a series of farmland leasing meetings in July and August, held at various times and locations throughout the state. These annual meetings aim to provide guidance and address concerns regarding leasing farmland for Iowa landowners, tenants and other interested individuals. The 2023 program will cover several essential topics, including land values and cash rent trends, land ownership and tenure, methods for determining fair rental rates, updates on legal aspects affecting farm leases and land ownership, as well as communication strategies between tenants and landowners. Participants will receive a 100-page workbook that complements the program topics. It includes resources such as surveys, sample written lease agreements, termination forms, and other relevant publications. Pre-registration is encouraged for attendees planning to participate in person. Walk-in participants may incur higher registration costs. Pre-registration can be done by contacting the local county extension office host site via phone or email. For those unable to attend in person, two virtual options are available. For more information, including registration details, visit this page on the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach website.
