Despite the partial government shutdown entering its 13th day today, Iowa is apparently muddling through relatively unscathed compared to other states across the union. In a ranking of states most affected by shutdown activities, WalletHub ranked Iowa as the 48th state when accounting for the state’s share of federal jobs, federal contract dollars per capita, access to national parks and the percentage of families receiving SNAP food stamps. Iowa has one of the lowest state shares of federal jobs, ranking the state as 48th least likely to be affected by nonessential worker furloughs.
