Fewer than 1 percent of startups are founded by black women

BizWomen.com: Investors who think they aren’t backing companies based on race may want to take a look at a new study by Digital Undivided that shows the truly tiny percentage of black female founders, and even less who are raising capital. Using data from Crunchbase and AngelList, a team of seven people working over three months examined 60,000 startups. Of that, Digital Undivided identified and studied 88 startups led by black women in the United States in the report called “The Real Unicorns of Tech: Black Women Founders.” That’s about 0.14 percent.
