Fight for Air Climb raises $335,000 for American Lung Association
An estimated 1,500 stair climbers packed four Des Moines skyscrapers Sunday for the 15th anniversary of the Fight for Air Climb in downtown Des Moines. The American Lung Association in Iowa event raised more than $335,000, with the final tally still climbing, the association said. Almost 90 cents of every dollar raised provides research, education and advocacy for the 200,000 Iowans who suffer from lung disease. Individuals and teams climb one, two, three or all four towers downtown — the EMC Insurance Cos. building, the Financial Center, Hub Tower and the Ruan Center. Those who climbed all four buildings completed 85 floors, 1,796 steps.
