An inaugural “boot camp” on angel investing will be held to help prepare Iowa women who are interested in angel investments but first need to learn more.

FIN Capital, a women’s angel investor network recently launched in Iowa, announced it will host the Angel Investing Boot Camp on Nov. 3-4 at Tero International in Clive. The event, the first in a series planned by FIN Capital, is open to all Iowa women who have an interest in angel investing regardless of accreditation status, said Heidi Wessels, director of advocacy and networking for Iowa Center for Economic Success, which developed the initiative.

The center plans to hold at least one Aspirant Series event per year that will be open to all Iowa women. Susan Preston, chair of Angel Resource Institute and managing partner of Seattle Angel Fund, will lead the boot camp.

Coordinated by the Iowa Center for Economic Success, FIN Capital — which stands for Female Investor Network — will provide accredited female investors in Iowa with access to investment opportunities in seed-stage to early-stage companies. In July, the center hosted more than 60 women to launch events for people to learn more about the initiative.
