The splash pool at Pete Crivaro Park, located at 1105 E. Railroad Ave., will remain closed today to allow city crews to continue cleaning up fireworks debris left by Fourth of July celebrants. Photos posted on Des Moines Parks and Recreation Facebook page show debris from hundreds of noisemakers scattered throughout the park. In addition, the photos show that the park’s splash pool was used as a launching pad for the fireworks. The pool was marred by the fireworks residue. The splash pool at Martin Luther King Jr. Park also will remain closed today because of inoperable spray features. A parks spokesperson said it’s not known yet whether the problem is a mechanical issue or related to fireworks debris.
