Food Bank of Iowa received 50,000 pounds of venison through HUSH program
Deer hunters donated 50,000 pounds of venison in 2020-21 to the Food Bank of Iowa through the state program Help Us Stop Hunger (HUSH), the Food Bank of Iowa announced. HUSH is a collaborative effort among Iowa deer hunters, Iowa’s six Feeding America food banks and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Venison donated through participating meat lockers is distributed through Iowa food banks in 55 counties to food pantries, meal sites and other emergency food providers.
