Food Bank of Iowa working to find solutions to rural child hunger
The Food Bank of Iowa recently participated in the Rural Child Hunger Capacity Building Institute, held in Omaha, the first event of its kind to focus entirely on finding solutions to food insecurity in rural areas of the country. The Food Bank of Iowa was one of 20 food banks to participate in the institute, which was held March 16-18 and sponsored by C&S Wholesale Grocers. Moving forward, the organization will participate in a yearlong effort to develop a framework and strategy to implement across the Feeding America network of 200 food banks. The Food Bank of Iowa provides food to 55 counties in Iowa, 49 of which are considered to be rural.
