Less than a year after joining the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, husband and wife Bill and Kris DuVall have become passionate volunteers. They visit the shelter at least once a week to walk the dogs or play with the cats, as well as attend special events. They even have adopted a dog and cat during that time, bringing their pet total to three cats and a dog.

“Both are very much the type that they just want to help the animals,” said Carol Griglione, board president of ARL. “They don’t do this for the recognition other than they just love animals.”

Kris DuVall also helped sell raffle tickets for ARL’s Bike Raffle and has attended events such as the Bow Wow Breakfast and a microchip clinic. “She’s just really supportive,” Griglione said.

She added, “The Animal Rescue League takes in 18,000 animals a year. We simply could not do all the things we do for animals without volunteers like Bill and Kris.”
