The Robert D. and Billie Ray Center at Drake University will honor 12 individuals and groups with exceptional character July 20 at Prairie Meadows. Mike C. Gartner, vice chairman of the Iowa Cubs and president of the Gartner Family Foundation, will receive the top honor, the Robert D. Ray Pillar of Character Award, named for the former Iowa governor who recently died. Gartner has served on the Ray Center’s board for eight years. See a complete list of honorees.
