Glazer Burt donates $600,000 to Boys & Girls Club of Central Iowa

Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa received a gift this week to honor the life of Colton Warth, the late eldest son of BGCCI’s CEO, Jodie Warth. Suzie Glazer Burt pledged $500,000 in memory of Colton, who died earlier this year. The gift will honor the life of a young man known for his thoughtfulness, sense of humor and dedication to family. Glazer Burt is the leading donor of the Club Pathways program, a campaign to fund the organization’s long-term vision to have a club for every child in the Greater Des Moines area from kindergarten through 12th grade. “The Club Pathways initiative is part of my dream to ensure every Boys & Girls Club child has the door to college opened for them. My vision would not be possible without the tenacity and fortitude of Jodie Warth, so in honoring her son, we honor her,” Glazer Burt said. In addition, Glazer Burt pledged $100,000 in memory of Des Moines philanthropist and businessman J. Barry Griswell, who died earlier this month. Growing up in Atlanta, Griswell joined a Boys & Girls Club as a child. Throughout his adulthood, he continued to support the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs both in Des Moines and nationally. Griswell led the fundraising efforts to build the Ellis I. Levitt Club at Carver Elementary in Des Moines. In 2014, he was inducted into the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Alumni Hall of Fame. When complete, the Club Pathways project will have added three new clubs and expanded two existing clubs. Two new clubs have already opened: the Gregory & Suzie Glazer Burt Club at Drake University opened in August 2019, and the E.T. Meredith Jr. Club at East High School opened in February.
