Global Spectrum, the company that manages the Iowa Events Center, announced at this morning’s Polk County Supervisors meeting that the county will be billed $26,529 for the 2006-07 fiscal year. The county had expected to pay $114,338 to subsidize operating costs for the IEC.

“This is the second year we have received favorable news from our partner Global Spectrum,” board chairman Tom Hockensmith said in a press release. “They continue to reaffirm our decision to engage a professional management firm was the right one for our citizens and community.” Iowa Events Center General Manager Matt Homan addressed the board today with a revised 2006-07 budget and the proposed budget for 2007-08 for the facilities. He also briefly presented a proposal for capital improvements needed at the complex. The board is expected to vote on budget approval within the next few weeks.
